JUST TRANSITIONS

Hydro-Social Relations in Islands, Coastlands and Peatlands

This strand focuses on arts-based and artistic approaches to just transitions in water landscapes in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where water has always been a threat and a promise. This project critically examines the interplay of water and power in diverse contexts, from Small Island States and the Northern coast, to peatlands and tidal marshes. Four subprojects, bring to light conflicting confluences around transitions, as well as their potential to become productive convivialities. Together, these projects seek to voice and visualize intergenerational, intersectional, and interspecies perspectives on just hydro-social transitions.
